MoM goes to Maker Faire Rome 2017

The Portuguese MoM team has just been accepted to participate in the next Maker Faire Rome 2017!

The projects created by the Portuguese students from MoM team – Garden Up by Roberto and José Carlos and Polygrowth by Ana Catarina and Ana Francisca – have inspired them to go further and submit their combined project work at Maker Faire Rome, happening this December.

Conductive Paint

A group of german students has worked with so called conductive paint. With conductive paint you can easily draw your wires on a piece of paper of a wooden board and you could integrate it in your electric circuit.

In the first pahce the students have measured the conductivity of the paint in depency of the sickness and the length of the line. In a second phase an eletric drum has been constructed, just by paint the parts of the drum on a wooden board.

Thermography Camera

A thermography camera can be used th show the surface temperature of an object. By looking at a human be you can the the temperature of the skin.

The students are using the camera to visualize the heat loss of differnt buildungs.

MoM Project & the Portuguese Press

The MoM – Matters of Matter Erasmus+ Project has been awarded the BEST STEM TEACHER AWARD at Science on Stage 2017 in Hungary!

Congratulations to all the Italian, Irish, German and Portuguese students and teachers involved in this three year long project for their hard work, creativity and genius!

Teachers Annamaria Lisotti and Rui Baptista receive the Best STEM Teacher Award for the Joint Project category at SonS 2017.

MoM @ Open Day Barcelinhos in Portugal

On May 19th, Barcelinhos Secondary School held the 2017 edition of Open Day. The Portuguese Erasmus team displayed their latest work from the MoM project that they had presented in Italy during the mobility exchange.

Hundreds of students – from our school and neighbouring schools – teachers and local press visited the MoM exhibition and were able to ask the team questions about their project work and their last mobility exchange to Italy.

Arduino projects, 3-d printing, a smart greenhouse, the use of polymers in planting, sustainable insulation were some of the work shown at the MoM display.

RoboCup Leipzig 2016

Three members of the Robotics Barcelinhos Club and MOM team from Portugal participated in the Junior CoSpace Rescue League at RoboCup2016 in Leipzig, Germany.

Students Carlos Campos, Luis Longras and Roberto Figueiredo competed against other students from all over the world and they reached the finals in this category. The Barcelinhos team played against the team from Singapore in the final competition. Despite having lost the final, our three students were thrilled to come up in second place in such an amazing global event.

RoboCup 2016 gathered a total of 3,500 participants from more than 45 countries in Leipzig, Germany, from 30 June to 4 July. More than 1,200 robots competed in the disciplines Soccer, Home, Rescue and Industrial, and in the Junior leagues.

MOM @ Maker Faire Lisbon 2016

Students from the MOM Portuguese team and Robotics Club participated at the Maker Faire in Lisbon last June 25 and 26. MOM students presented their smart lamp app – “Light it Up” – and the MOM project in general, whereas the Robotics Club introduced presented their star: Maurício, the robotic dancing skeleton.

Visitors at the Fair were quite curious about our MOM Erasmus+ project and Maurício.

Three team members from Robotics Barcelinhos Club are flying today to Leipzig, Germany for the RoboCup 2016 world championship. They will be competing in the RescueCoSpace (ages 15-19) league.
